Netflix: Lupin Ident

All of Paris, rebuilt in Unreal Engine by a small team.

Case Study

VFX Supervisor ‍ - Team of 2 - Unreal Engine - Mirada 2026

THE CHALLENGE:

Recreate all of Paris convincingly for a title ident — the kind of scope that would traditionally demand a large team and a heavy CG-render pipeline — on a small budget and timeline.

MY ROLE:

I supervised the project and did all of the compositing myself with a team of just 2 people

WHAT I BUILT:

When the preferred option of having a drone shoot in Paris proved to be too cumbersome I had to scramble and find an alternative that would meet our strict time and budget constraints. I opted to forgo a traditional offline render approach and instead used Unreal Engine as the main renderer, which let us recreate the scale of Paris with only a couple of artists — a real-time pipeline that delivered cinematic scope at a fraction of the usual cost and crew. I composited the final result in-house.

THE RESULT:

A cinematic recreation of an entire city delivered by a two-person team — a clear demonstration of how a real-time (Unreal) pipeline can achieve scope that traditionally required far more people and time.
