“This commercial spot for E*Trade was shot 100% in camera in a massive warehouse in downtown LA. The concept was to build a massive art installation that looked like two different clearly defined images when viewed at different angles. This required months of Pre-Vis to accurately build out the sets, map out the textures, and have everything sent off to the Art Dept to fabricate in real life. Once on set I needed to program the Motion Control rigs while also devising an accurate coordinate system to bring the Art Dept’s set pieces to the level of precision required for the optical illusion to succeed. I worked closely with Production Design, Art Department, Camera, and VFX over four (very long) shooting days to bring these commercials to life.”
